HOW WE DO ANYTHING IS HOW WE DO EVERYTHING

I really enjoy discussing living a purpose driven life. Have you ever wondered what the meaning of your life is? Getting exposure to different people and experiences always helps me find alignment. Today, my Jewish brothers came by and spoke to me about how alcohol consumption may play a role in the pursuit of living a purpose driven life (for some). Of course, I was drunk with enthusiasm! I was quickly reminded that excessive drinking isn’t Godly. I was also advised that if one decides to partake in the consumption of liquor, drinking should be limited and accompanied by a L’Chaim.
L’CHAIM
L’Chaim means “toast to life” in Hebrew. We often associate L’Chaim with a celebratory toast to well being and good health; To Life! My brothers began to provide a deeper meaning for L’Chaim, a meaning that was associated with good mental health, emotional health, and spiritual health. L’Chaim is a reminder of purpose. The brothers spoke of L’Chaim as if it were a resolution of purpose. They instructed me to drink with intention. Think about the coming blessings; what I want, need, or am blessed be looking forward to, and manifest that through L'Chaim. We discussed how there are no coincidences and nothing should be done in vain, including drinking.
DRINKING
People tend to forget that alcohol had many different purposes including; medicinal, ritualistic, remuneration, and funerary. The ritual of libation is pouring out a drink as an offering to a deity. In the 90’s we saw rappers pouring out liquor as a sign of reverence for the dead homies. These rituals are reminders that alcohol is a tool to be used in conjunction with purpose and the intent.
One of the other topics we discussed was moderation and it association to age. People in the religion who are under 40 years old are limited to the amount they are able to consume. Once you turn 40, you have free will. However, by the time one turns 40, they have already developed habits that will prevent them from overconsumption because a preset tolerance has been installed into their lifestyle to exercise psysical and mental constraint.
MONEY
Admittedly, I am a serial entrepreneur. My mind is always thinking about how to automate or invent a process, product, or service to make life easier. My friend, Sam always reminds me about intention regarding my earnings from each endeavor. My other friend Steve tells me that being financially gluttonous (with no purpose or intent) makes me no different from a hoarder/ binger with a disorder/ desire for collecting (money). I suppose this is why Andrew Carnegie famous quotes resonates with so many wealthy folks "If you die rich, you die disgraced."
I agree with both Sam and Steve, as I need to ensure my earnings are satisfying a specific need or bringing awareness. Since my job takes care of basic needs like food, clothes, and shelter. I typically assign earnings from my extracurricular activities to saving, investing, and philanthropy. Once every dollar has a purpose, my purpose will precede me. When I am gone, I hope the next person with a passion can use the resources I’ve earned to help advance their purpose in a never ending continuous cycle to make the world a better place. I wonder if this is what they mean when the say money makes the world go round.
SOCIALLY AWKWARD
The world is filled with people who often want nothing more than to be heard. Social media helps provide a platform for that very reason. However, like anything else, too much of anything is never good for you, everything should be consumed in moderation and with purpose. These days, people tend to use social media to cure boredom. However, the adverse effects associated with the overconsumption of social media could be detrimental to an entire generation (for more insight on the adverse effects of too much social media, watch “The Social Dilemma” by Jeff Orlowski & Larissa Rhodes). However, there are some positive advantages to using social media including using hashtags to find content related to living a purpose driven life. Once you walk in your ultimate purpose, you can teach others your strategies on how to vibrate on a higher frequency.
Cheers to that!
